A special tax on cannabis businesses in Redding may appear on the ballot in November. On Tuesday the city council will consider a tax of $25 per square foot for cultivation businesses. For other types of operations, including manufacturing, processing, lab testing, delivery, storage, distribution and retail sales, the city would collect 10% of gross receipts. The funds would be considered unrestricted general revenue, so if it goes before voters the measure will only require a simple majority.
