Crews Battle Separate Fires Thursday

A fire that broke out Thursday morning north of the City of Shasta Lake is under investigation. The blaze was reported at around 11AM. It was at first believed to be in the Tunnel Road Area, but was actually near the north end of Black Canyon Road and firefighters had some trouble accessing it. The blaze was burning near the railroad tracks and train traffic was asked to slow down while going through the area. The fire was contained at a little more than an acre.

A roadside fire broke out last night along Tarmac Road in East Redding. The blaze started at around 7 O’clock between the State Fund Building, Tarmac and the Highway 44 offramp. It was quickly contained by Redding Firefighters at about an acre. Investigator Patrick O’Connor says the circumstances point to a possible disintegrating catalytic convertor.
