4th Of July Fireworks Shows Planned Across The North State

As far as Shasta County is concerned, there’s no such thing as safe and sane fireworks. Products labeled safe-and-sane can be purchased legally just across the county line in Cottonwood, but fireworks of any kind are illegal even to possess in Shasta County. It’s a misdemeanor crime here and comes with a $1000 fine or 6 months in jail, just for possession. If fireworks are lit, the penalty is greater, and if fireworks cause damage, the person responsible or their parents can be held liable for all costs.

There’s no need to take the risk. There are plenty of impressive fireworks displays in the area:
–Burney Basin days runs all weekend with fireworks Sunday night at the Burney High football field
–Weaverville’s Independence Day Celebration runs June 29th through July 4th, with fireworks on Monday the 3rd.
–Anderson Explodes Monday night at the fairgrounds. Prior to that an all-you-can eat for $10 barbecue will be held by the 4H and F.F.A. with meat from this year’s livestock auction at the Shasta District Fair.
— Redding’s Freedom Festival is Tuesday. Thousands will crowd the Civic Auditorium lawn. The Sundial Bridge will be closed and there’s a strict no open container alcohol policy.
–Mount Shasta City will have fireworks over Lake Siskiyou on the 4th.
–Yreka will have a fireworks display at Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds, also on the 4th
–Red Bluff will also have a fireworks show on the 4th at the City Park
