A fire broke out Friday that threatened a subdivision under construction in West Redding. The fire was in the area of the Salt Creek Heights development off Eureka Way and Buenaventura near the edge of city limits. Both Cal-Fire and Redding Fire Department responded as it was in the “MTZ”, or “mutual threat zone”. With their combined efforts, they held the fire to about an acre and a half. It may have been started by construction equipment.
