The Latest: Crews Gaining Ground On Lane Fire

A gusty north wind quickly pushed a fire south of Millville Plains on Saturday. The Bascom Fire is 90% contained after burning 328 acres.

The Lane Fire raging near Paynes Creek is 3,000 acres and just 20% contained on steep, rugged terrain. Several hundred homes are threatened. The evacuation order has been downgraded to an evacuation warning for residents of Ponderosa Sky Ranch and Paynes Creek. Those residents may return to their homes.

The Stoll Fire near Stoll and Baker Roads west of Red Bluff has been re-surveyed and is only 300 acres. Forward progress has been stopped and it’s now 60% contained. Multiple residential and commercial structures have been destroyed and evacuations remain in effect.

The Sierra Fire behind the Sierra Pacific Mill in Red Bluff has been stopped at 170 acres.
