Cal-Fire has confirmed four homes so far destroyed in the Creek Incident. The series of fires was started intentionally early Sunday afternoon in the Clear Creek, Igo and Cloverdale Areas. The sheriff’s office and Cal-Fire investigators are still seeking a vehicle that was seen in the areas of origin of several of the fires, described as a gold or tan minivan, possibly a 1990’s model Dodge Caravan or something similar. A number of mandatory evacuations and hard road closures remain in effect, though many have opened up. The lists of closures can be found on the KQMS Facebook page. The evacuation center is at West Valley High School. The fire has burned more than of 1350 acres and is now 60% contained. Damage assessments are still underway. On Monday rising temperatures caused some unburned areas to flare up but containment lines were strengthened. A Redding Firefighter suffered a heat-related injury and was hospitalized, but has since been released and is recovering. Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko, acting as the Director of Emergency Services, has declared a local emergency. The proclamation is expected to be ratified by the Board of Supervisors Tuesday morning.
