A backpacker from Oregon is missing in the Trinity Alps. 64-year-old David Shaw Ura of Central Point was dropped off by his daughter on June 15th at the Ides Cove Trailhead west of Red Bluff. He was embarking on a 70 mile trek on the Bigfoot Trail accompanied only by his dog. He intended to arrive in Hayfork 5 days later and packed only enough provisions for that amount of time. He was going to call his daughter when he got to Hayfork, but the phone has still not been activated. Multiple agencies and volunteers have searched but have found no sign of David Ura or his dog.
