Shasta-Trinity National Forest Issues Fire Restrictions

Fire restrictions have gone into effect on the 3 Million acre Shasta-Trinity National Forest. That means visitors can only build fires in designated campfire sites and there’s no smoking allowed except in enclosed vehicles, buildings or at developed recreation sites. At Lake Shasta, Trinity Lake and Iron Canyon Reservoir, fires are allowed within 10 feet of the water and at least 50 feet from dry vegetation. Internal combustion engines are only allowed below the high water line or on designated roads. There’s also no welding or torching allowed. Rulebreakers can be fined and/or get six months in jail.
