Fire Burns An Acre After Trucker Falls Asleep On I-5

A line of barely moving traffic stretched at least ten miles on Northbound Interstate Five south of Cottonwood Thursday. A little after Noon a big hauling a full load pineapples crashed in the wide median area north of the Red Bluff Rest Area and completely burned up in a fire that spread to vegetation. The fire was contained to about an acre. The truck driver had apparently fallen asleep at the wheel. The trucker and his passenger suffered minor injuries.
