The Shasta County Assessor Recorders Office says that property owners who homes were damaged or destroyed in the Carr Fire may be eligible for a reduction in the assessed value of the property. Leslie Morgan says that the Assessor’s Office currently has appraisers in the field updating property or other assessment records to make corrections and to track protected base year values. Morgan says property owners should contact the appraisers with any questions. Property owners can also call 225-3600 to obtain a disaster relief form. The form can also be found on the Assessors website. The form should be filled out within 60 days of the date of damage.
