APD: 5 Injured After Driver Of A Stolen Car Crashes Into Another Vehicle

Anderson Police are seeking a man after he ran from a crash in Anderson that left 5 people injured. At 11:13AM Friday officers were called to a two vehicle crash at Balls Ferry Road and Ventura Street. Officers found the eastbound lanes of Balls Ferry were blocked and learned that a Toyota Highlander had 7 people inside. A white Chevy van was still running, but the driver had apparently fled before officers arrived. Witnesses told officers that a man and a woman inside the Chevy had fled on foot. Officers began first aid on the 7 people in the Highlander and 5 of them, were taken to the hospital with moderate to severe injuries. Officers began searching for the occupants of the van and found the woman within minutes about 2 blocks from the crash site. 28-year-old Alena Sogoian of Red Bluff was identified as the driver of the Chevy van which was reported stolen in Red Bluff early Friday. She had 3 outstanding warrants. A witness told officers that Sogoian ran a red light and crashed into the Highlander. She was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, hit and run causing injuries, and for driving on a suspended license. Her passenger is still at large. He is described as a white man between 20 and 30 years old with a thin build. He has short dark curly hair. Anyone with information is urged to contact Anderson Police.
