Woman Arrested After Allegedly Firing Shot During Burglary

A K9 helped deputies apprehend a woman who allegedly shot at several people during a burglary in the Millville area, according to the sheriff’s office. At about 6:43PM Friday evening deputies were called to a property on Old 44 Drive in the Millville area to check on a burglary in progress. Deputies learned that shots had been fired and contacted the three victims. Deputies spoke with 50-year-old Luis Alvarado who owns the property, and he reported that a man and a woman had been driving a pickup on the property and were allegedly stealing some of his belongings. Alvardo, his son Javier, and his neighbor Reginald Ceehorne went to the property to investigate. They found a man and a woman on the property and the woman was driving a pickup around. She allegedly accelerate towards the 3 victims were standing and then stopped and pointed a gun at the group. She allegedly fired one round that did not strike anyone. Ceehorne, who is 72-year-old, said he was armed and fired at the truck in self-defense. The woman got out of the pickup and fled on foot. Deputies searched the area and with help from Jax the K9 the woman was found about 1/2 mile away. Jax helped keep 50-year-old Katheryn Nickell of Redding from running and she was identified by the victims as the suspect. She was booked into the Shasta County Jail.
