A man has been arrested for allegedly starting the deadly Klamathon Fire that destroyed 35 homes and left one man dead. 32-year-old John Colin Eagle Skoda was booked into the Siskyiou County Jail on seven charges, including involuntary manslaughter because an elderly Hornbrook resident was killed in the blaze that broke out in early July. Cal Fire investigators say that Skoda started the 38,000 acre fire on July 5th when he allegedly was burning debris. The brush fire quickly grew out of control, forcing some 400 people to evacuate near the California-Oregon border and resulted in the closure of Interstate 5. Three firefighters were injured, including Cal-Fire Firefighter Brandon Feller, who was treated for serious facial burns after flames overran his fire engine.
