Five arrests were made in an underage prostitution sting targeting potential customers. Anderson’s Problem Oriented Policing Unit and Redding’s Neighborhood Police Unit cooperated on the operation to bust predator pedophiles. An ad was placed on several websites that carry offers of prostitution. The ad offered the services of a young female, who was of course fictitious. Prospective customers who responded were told that she was 15 or 16 years old. This scared away most of the respondents, but not all of them. Five men allegedly negotiated a price and agreed to meet at a local motel for sex. One of them requested nude photos and faces the additional charge of persuading a minor to produce child pornography. Four of the men agreed to bring alcohol for her. Police say 48-year-old Jessie Martinez Jr. came all the way from Yuba City. The others are 40-year-old Trevan Reid Purvis of Redding, 29-year-old San Ting Saechao of Shasta Lake, 30-year-old Douglas Alan Boucher of Shingletown, and 23-year-old Lance Vangundy of Anderson. They’re all charged with arranging a meeting with a minor for sexual purposes, and a separate charge of arriving at such a meeting.
