I-5 Opens North Of Redding

Interstate Five has reopened between Redding and Mount Shasta, but with some restrictions. The freeway had been closed since last Wednesday when the Delta Fire started. Both directions are now open, but restricted to just one lane each way for 17 miles through fire damaged areas. Drivers are asked to use extreme caution and no flammable loads are allowed, meaning hay, wood chips, lumber, logs, or gas. Travelers should not plan to make any stops and should be prepared for lengthy delays.
