Redding’s annual community creek clean-up is October 6th from 8AM to Noon, as hundreds of volunteers will fan out across Henderson Open Space, on the east side of the Sacramento River south of the Cypress Bridge. Trash and invasive vegetation will be removed to open up visibility of the river throughout the natural park. Volunteers should be at least 10-years-old and should bring a water bottle, closed-toe shoes, long pants and plenty of sunscreen. Organizers will provide gloves, safety goggles, buckets and garden tools, but those who have their own are encouraged to bring them. Details and registration can be found at shastacreeks.com.
