A bear that was wandering around East Redding Monday morning ended up crawling into a culvert that runs under Churn Creek Road south of the Fly Shop. Game Wardens placed a bear cage at one end and blocked the other end, saying they would relocate the bear. The 300 pound black bear was first seen a little before 6AM near Denny’s Restaurant on the west side of Interstate Five. The wayward bear walked into the trap at 12:30AM and was taken, with a CHP escort, to an undisclosed mountain forest location.
