A Lewiston woman has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder. At 6:40PM Tuesday evening a man flagged down an off-duty Trinity County Deputy on Highway 299 east of Lewiston. He was suffering from a gunshot wound. A Cal-Fire Firefighter and an ambulance happened to be driving by as well and they stopped to assist, but the man later succumbed to his gunshot. His identity is withheld until family is notified. A woman who was also at the scene, 36-year-old Jessica Chase, was arrested for homicide.
