Fire East Of Red Bluff Burns Nearly 4000 Acres

A series of grass fires broke out east of Red Bluff a little before One O’clock Sunday afternoon and by 8 O’clock Sunday night, they had already ripped through nearly 4,000 acres. Collectively dubbed the Sun Incident, the fires are burning off Highway 36 and Sunriver Road. An evacuation advisory is in effect for Stice Road and Andreni Road. Evacuation warnings are in effect for the Hogsback Road area. The latest estimate is 3,848 acres with 40% containment. The cause is not known, but the three fires all started along Highway 36.
