Someone was found dead in a house fire in Cottonwood on Sunday. The Shasta County Coroner’s Office has not released any information about the victim, but they’ve confirmed that an investigation is underway into whether Sunday’s fire that destroyed the victim’s house on Willow Street may be tied to as many as 9 other suspicious structure fires in the Cottonwood area over the past few months. The sheriff’s office major crimes unit has declined to comment.
