Man Who Stole Carr Fire Victims Trailer Sentenced To Prison

A man has decided to plead guilty to a Carr Fire-related theft, and he’s been sentenced to prison. Among the evacuees of the devastating fire were Zach and Megan Bonnin, who had their most precious items packed into a travel trailer. The things were not of great value to anyone else, mostly sentimental items, family photographs and important documents. While dealing with the stress of evacuating their home, the Bonnins’ were hit with another trauma when their temporary home was stolen. The trailer was later recovered, but it had been emptied of its contents. An investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the D.A.’s Office led to the arrest of David Fuentes, who revealed the location of the missing items. They were recovered by the D.A.’s Office and returned to the grateful couple. Wednesday Fuentes pleaded guilty to first degree burglary, vehicle theft and looting. He’s been given a five year prison sentence.
