A heavy equipment fire at the south edge of Redding caused some expensive damage on Saturday. At one in the afternoon, Redding Fire Department was called to North State Asphalt on Clear Creek Road. It was reported as a vegetation fire, but when they got there they found a rubber blending unit on fire, but no spread to vegetation. Along with Cal-Fire, they extinguished the flames. It’s not known how it started. The value of the damage is estimated at $300,000.
