National Adoption Day will be celebrated a few days early in Shasta County. While November is National Adoption Month, Shasta County Superior Court will hold a ceremony this Thursday afternoon. So far this year, more than 100 adoptions have taken place in the county. The adopted children and their families are invited to have have refreshments and participate in arts and crafts and other activities from 3:30PM to 5PM in the jury assembly room. Judge Gary Gibson will address the attendees, followed by guest speaker, Marshal Joel Nothrup. Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes and go trick or treating at offices in the courthouse.
