RPD: Man Who Tried To Grab Officers Gun Arrested

A man caused a scene inside the Downtown Safeway before fighting with Redding Police Saturday evening. At 6:25PM Safeway employees reported a man in the store with a medical issue. When they got there officers learned that 28-year-old Jarrod Windle had thrashed the store and then left on foot. Officers tried to stop him in the parking lot but he took off running to a nearby business, where he resisted attempts to handcuff him. Officers say he grabbed one of their guns and tried to get it out of the holster and also grabbed another officer’s baton before being taken down with help from Redding Firefighters. He was booked on multiple charges.
