Early Morning Gunfire Erupts In Chico

Gunshots rang out in Chico early Sunday morning from separate incidents, neither of which have been solved. At 12:45AM, Chico Police received multiple reports of a shooting on Warner Street. Witnesses said several people in a dark colored sedan had been cruising around before slowing down to talk to a man who was walking along the sidewalk near Chico State’s Acker Gymnasium. They shot the man, who was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The suspects were described as black or pacific islander men. A couple of hours later, at around 2:30AM, somebody fired several rounds into a house in the 1500 block of B Street. There were several people inside, but no one was injured. Witnesses heard the suspect flee on foot, but officers were unable to locate anyone. There’s no indication that the two shootings were related.
