Coroner Releases ID’s Of Men Who Drowned In Eastman Lake

The two men who drowned in a northeastern county lake have been identified. Early Monday morning, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office received a report of two men who were overdue in the area of Glenburn. Family members last saw the pair leave the boat dock of Eastman Lake in a canoe around 10PM Sunday night. Later that morning, deputies from the Burney Station and CHP Air Operations began searching the lake. Two private citizens, in their boat, located one of the men submerged in shallow water with the canoe nearby. The victim had been in the water for some time and was deceased. Meanwhile, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Dive Team and Boating Safety Unit were requested to search the area for the other man. A half hour later, divers located the other man, who had also drowned, in approximately fifteen to twenty feet of water. The men were identified as 32-year-old Andrew Ryan Ginsburg of Hawthorne and 32-year-old Jace Christopher Bodda of Lakewood. The incident remains under investigation by the Shasta County Coroner’s Office. It is unknown at this time whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in this incident.
