A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries when he was struck by a pickup truck in Downtown Redding Tuesday afternoon. At around 5:30PM, 61-year-old Michael Deffebach was crossing South Street between California Street and the railroad tracks when he was hit by a westbound Toyota Tacoma driven by Kathryn Houser of Igo. Deffebach was wearing dark clothing and a witness told police that Houser was driving below the speed limit when the collision happened. Deffebach is at Mercy Medical Center and, at last word, listed in critical condition.
