Man Charged In 2017 Shooting Sentenced To 19 Years In Prison

A man who fired shots through a window, hitting a teenager last year has been sentenced to prison. Around 2AM on May 8th, 2017, a 16-year-old boy was shot once in the torso at a residence at 1430 Mistletoe Lane. Redding Police Officers questioned the people in the house at the time and determined that 19-year-man Enrique Padilla was the prime suspect. The next day, officers located and arrested him. Last month, Padilla pleaded guilty to residential burglary and assault with a semi-automatic firearm and admitted a special allegation for personal use of a firearm. On Wednesday, Judge Cara Beatty sentenced Padilla to 19 years in state prison. Padilla was apparently upset that his ex-girlfriend, who lived at the Mistletoe Lane home, was seeing other people.
