Siskiyou County’s multi-agency drug task force wrapped up a nearly year-long investigation with a couple of arrests last week. In January, agents were told of large quantities of Methamphetamine being distributed in Eastern Siskiyou County and Klamath County, Oregon. The central figure was 33-year-old Luis Alberto Valerio-Martinez of Tulelake, apparently an associate of the Nortenos, a Mexican gang implicated in many criminal enterprises. The other suspect was 29-year-old Jose Arnulfo Alcala-Garcia. The federal DEA assisted in building a case by allegedly purchasing over 2 pounds of Meth, an Ounce of Heroin and large quantities of prescription pills from both of the suspects. At least ten different local, state and federal agencies had a hand in serving 3 search warrants in Tulelake last Wednesday, reportedly seizing about a Quarter Pound of Meth along with evidence of sales. Valerio-Martinez and Alcala-Garcia were both picked up on federal warrants.
