A well-known Weaverville man got off to a rough start for the new year. 51-year-old John Parks suffered major injuries when his truck started sliding on a steep, muddy road. He jumped from the truck before it’s front end struck a dirt embankment. The rear end of the truck spun and the left rear tires ran over Parks. Among his injuries are 2 broken ribs at the vertebra, 3 fractured vertebrae, a head injury, broken finger and lots of bruising. In an ironic twist, Parks who’s a helicopter pilot was airlifted by helicopter to Mercy Medical Center in Redding, flown by someone else.
