Deputies: Teen Kills Man Over Advances Towards Girlfriend

An un-armed Weaverville man is dead, apparently because of a jealous teenager. The Trinity County Sheriff’s Department received a report late Tuesday night of a fight at Mill Street and Highway 299. Arriving deputies found an unresponsive man who had numerous puncture and laceration wounds. Emergency medical personnel arrived and treated the man who was then taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was identified as 28-year-old Nathan Purdue of Weaverville. A few hundred feet away from where the victim was found, deputies located a teenager who was covered in blood. He said he’d killed the victim. He was taken in and, during questioning, said he’d killed Purdue because he was making advances towards his girlfriend. The suspect’s name is not being released because of his age. He’s being held in jail for homicide.
