Man Sentenced in Bamboo Theft & Attack

A Redding man has been convicted of attacking a man while stealing his bamboo. On the evening of November first of last year, William Walker Bailey was seen cutting down bamboo on private property. The owner of the property and another man confronted Bailey and told him to stop cutting and leave. Bailey responded by lunging at the man and swinging a knife at him. He missed the victim’s face by just a few inches, then pointed the knife at the other man and threatened him as well. Bailey then left the property, taking with him the bamboo he had cut down. A Shasta County jury has found Bailey guilty of felony assault with a deadly weapon, felony criminal threats and a misdemeanor count of exhibiting a deadly weapon.
