Grant to Curb Teenage Impaired Driving

The State of California has awarded $300,000 to help decrease vehicle-related deaths and injuries among teenagers in Shasta County. The Office of Traffic Safety is giving the money for educational efforts aimed at teens. The focus is on the dangers of impaired driving, but will also include distracted driving prevention and pedestrian safety. Nationwide, vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for 15 to 18-year-olds. the award will be managed by the Shasta County Health and Human Services Department, which will work with The Injury Prevention Coalition of Shasta County and the Shasta County Chemical People on traffic safety campaigns.
