A very wet winter has greatly reduced drought conditions in California. The U.S. Drought Monitor reported Thursday that more than 34 percent of the state, including the Sierra Nevada, much of the Central Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area are drought-free. Only about 10 percent of the state, is categorized as being in moderate or severe drought. Most of the North Valley is considered free of any significant dryness, with small portions of “abnormally dry” designations in parts of Colusa and Tehama Counties, along with about a third of Shasta County. The northern part of Trinity County has a “moderate drought” designation. Siskiyou County still has areas of “severe drought”. Butte County has no significant dryness according to the latest report.
