Entrance Fee At Whiskeytown Park To Increase March 1st

Free access to Whiskeytown Recreation Area will end soon. Entrance fees to the park were suspended in after the Carr Fire, but will resume on Friday, March 1st. Whiskeytown is one of 117 parks whose fees are increasing. 300 parks charge no entrance fees. The previous $20 per vehicle fee will increase to $25, while a park specific annual pass will go from 40 to 45 Dollars. At least 80 percent of the revenue raised at Whiskeytown is allocated to the park for normal operations. In addition to day-to-day needs, proposed projects include repairing damage from the Carr Fire and this month’s snow storm. Nationwide, increases in visitors and aging infrastructure has led to an 11.6 Billion Dollar maintenance backlog.
