Update: Lake Shasta 25 Feet From Crest Of Dam

The Sacramento River, already swollen by runoff from its banks, is about to get much bigger. At 2 O’clock Thursday afternoon the Bureau of Reclamation will almost quadruple the releases from Keswick Dam, from 7,000 to 25,000 cubic feet per second. Lake Shasta has risen dramatically with the recent storms. As of late Wednesday night the lake was less than 25 feet from the crest of Shasta Dam after the water levels rose several feet.
