A body has been recovered from Burney Creek. On Sunday at approximately 9:04 PM, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Burney Patrol Station received a call of a possible body in the creek. Deputies responded and confirmed there was a deceased subject, but were unable to recover the decedent due to the position of the body, the high water flow and the technical nature of the recovery. Sheriff’s Office personnel stayed on scene until daylight made recovery possible. Monday at 8:00, deputies, members of the Search and Rescue Mountain Rescue Team, and Burney Fire were able to recover the decedent. The case is under active investigation by the Shasta County Coroner’s Office.
