Highway 299 Open After Big Rig Spills Load Of Pellets

Highway 299 was a mess east of Bella Vista after a big rig overturned early Friday morning, spilling its entire load of alfalfa pellets. At 1:50AM Kacey Coffman of Klamath Falls was driving the fully loaded tractor-trailer westbound approaching Buzzard Roost Road when he says there were two deer in the roadway ahead of him. He swerved to try and avoid hitting the animals and that caused the back of the trailer to come around and the entire 80,000 pound combination tipped over, spilling all the pellets and completely blocking the roadway until one lane opened just before 6AM. Coffman complained of pain to his ribs and forehead.
