Council Approves New Police CSO Positions

The city council has authorized funding for four new community service officer positions, which will cut response times for sworn officers. CSOS take non-emergency calls for service such as stolen vehicle reports, illegal camping, burglaries, traffic accidents and other calls. Two CSO will be hired this year with money from salary savings, and from the red light camera program. Chief Roger Moore hopes to add two more positions next year. Four new pickup trucks will also be purchased to assist the officers.
