Chronic Offender Facing 11 Years Behind Bars

A man who eluded Anderson Police in a dangerous pursuit will be sentenced to more than a decade in prison after pleading no contest in court. 32-year-old Derrick Wayne Horn had been one of the APD’s Most Wanted and was on the Chronic Offender Accountability Program list. He had 8 active arrest warrants when an officer driving on Airport Road saw Horn driving a car going the other direction on December 15th. He turned around and tried to pull the car over on Dersch Road, but Horn jumped from the driver’s seat of the moving car and ran away. The car crossed over into opposing traffic, forcing drivers to swerve out of the way until a passenger in the driverless car got behind the wheel and pulled over to the shoulder. A reverse 9-1-1 was issued for the area as officers searched with a K9. They gave up after about 2 hours. The car had false registration and contained an illegal weapon and drugs. Horn was captured shortly a few days later. In addition to pleading to charges from that incident, Horn also has a prior strike for burglary. On April 18th he’ll be sentenced to 11 years 4 months in state prison.
