One of Shasta County’s chronic offenders has been sentenced. Don Longwood was a target of the Chronic Offender Accountability Program, which aims to take on the most frequently arrested individuals in the county and hold them in custody through prosecution and sentencing. On Monday, Longwood entered guilty pleas on one count of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, two counts of drug possession, one count of resisting arrest and one count of receiving stolen property. The five misdemeanors netted Longwood a sentence of 4-and-a-half years in county jail. The first year will be served behind bars and then Longwood will be immediately transferred to the Teen Challenge Drug Treatment Program. If he does not successfully complete that program, then he’ll have to serve his remaining 3-and-a-half year jail sentence.
