The parents of twins have been arrested in Siskiyou County on child abuse charges. Monday afternoon, officers from the Yreka Police Department responded to Fairchild Medical Center on a report of a 2-month-old child with a skull fracture. Officers spoke to emergency room staff and were told the child had not only a skull fracture, but had a major brain injury. While investigating, they discovered that the twin sister also had signs of injuries. After receiving medical attention, the child also had a brain injury. Both children were taken to UC Davis Medical Center for further care and are listed in stable but critical condition. The police department and Siskiyou Unified Major Investigation Team obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 800 block of Knapp Street. Yreka Police arrested both parents 31-year-old Stephanie Hayes and 35-year-old Joshua Jjaa, on charges of willful harm or injury to a child. Child protective services was contacted and took two other children into protective custody.
