A Chico man has been arrested on charges of inappropriate on-line contacts with a 13-year-old girl. Unfortunately for 25-year-old Ryan “Rebel” McClure, the girl was actually Butte County Sheriff’s Department detectives. McClure had been trying to contact teenagers online to arrange in person meetings. Deputies say he sent sexually suggestive comments and tried to set up an in-person meeting. McClure is a registered sex offender and currently on parole for the same charges, so detectives were able to track him through his GPS monitor and arrest him. He was charged with contacting a minor to commit a felony and sending harmful matter to seduce a minor. As there may have been other similar instances, the investigation is still open.
