Children Injured In Head-On Crash Near Cottonwood

A head-on crash west of Cottonwood Sunday sent five people to the hospital. Just before 11AM a 2006 Chevy Malibu was eastbound on Bowman Road with 33-year-old Kelli Bjorlin of Happy Valley driving. As she rounded a curve near Sebastian Drive the car crossed over into the oncoming lane into the path of a Toyota Corolla driven by 50-year-old Victor Heath of Redding. He hit the brakes but couldn’t avoid being hit head-on by the Chevy. The Toyota spun out in the roadway, while the Chevy was stopped by a power pole. Heath and his 42-year-old passenger had moderate injuries, as did Bjorlin and her 6-year-old male passenger. A 4-year-old girl with Bjorlin was the only one not buckled up and suffered major injuries. The CHP does not suspect drugs or alcohol.
