Driver Who Fled From Police Sentenced To Prison

A car thief who led Corning Police on a chase in December has been sentenced. Officers tried to pull over 33-year-old David Shields but he evaded them after leading them on a high-speed chase. Shields eventually drove off the road, through a field and crashed into a water main. He ran away but was found the next day and admitted to being the driver. Convicted of felony fleeing an officer while driving recklessly, felony receiving a stolen vehicle and felony vandalism, Shields has been sentenced to three years in state prison.
