RPD Arrests Man With Imitation Rifle

A man arrested in Caldwell Park had a concealed weapon that was not easily concealed. A little after Noon Sunday Redding Police were told of a man riding a bicycle through the park with a rifle or shotgun stuffed down his pants. The caller was concerned because there was a large number of children playing in the area. Officers found 52-year-old Robert Curtis Burlew riding a bicycle near the gazebo. He had what turned out to be an imitation rifle down the front of his pants, with the stock sticking out above his waist. He also reportedly had Methamphetamine and is on post release supervision. He had no explanation for why he was carrying the fake gun. He was booked into jail on several charges.
