A Redding man reportedly stole a gun and wasted no time in using it irresponsibly. At 4:20PM Wednesday afternoon, Redding Police got reports of a man on North Market Street pointing a pistol at passing drivers. 21-year-old William James McCurdy was found walking near the intersection of North Market and Travel Way, still holding the revolver in his hand. He was ordered to drop the gun and he at first refused but after repeated threats he eventually dropped it and was taken into custody. It was a muzzle loading revolver that had apparently just been stolen from Olde West Gun and Loan. McCurdy was booked into jail on several charges.
