Three Arrested After Separate High Speed Chases

There were a couple of unrelated high speed chases in Tehama County last weekend. On June 28th at 11:30AM a Tehama County Sheriff’s Deputy was responding to a call about a theft at the Dollar General in Proberta when he spotted the suspect vehicle, a GMC Yukon, leaving the store. The deputy attempted a traffic stop but the driver sped away south on Highway 99-W at speeds topping at least 125 miles an hour. The driver did not slow down as it went into Corning, heading east on South Avenue and eventually toward the New Clairvaux Abbey. The chase ended when the Yukon got stuck in an orchard. The driver ran away but 37-year-old Nicholas Self was later captured at the Woodson Bridge RV Park.

A chase on Sunday involved a vehicle reported stolen in a car-jacking in Los Angeles. A CHP Officer spotted the car in the north part of the county and the driver fled. When it came to a stop in Cottonwood, the two occupants ran away. Deaundrey Davis and Edward Starr were quickly captured.
