Parolee Sentenced To 4 Years For December High Speed Chase

A Sacramento man who led the CHP on a high speed chase in Tehama County has been sentenced. It was midday last December 3rd when an officer got behind a Volkswagon Passat on Southbound Interstate 5 and followed it as it exited onto Bowman Road. He tried to pull the car over for a violation but the driver, 29-year-old Preston Torguson, took off westbound at more than 100 miles an hour, passing other cars on blind curves and on the shoulder. He passed Evergreen School at over 100 miles an hour. Because of unsafe conditions the chase was terminated but another CHP Officer soon spotted the car off Highway 36 and checked the license plate number, learning that the car was stolen. Tehama County D.A. Investigators responded and helped box the car in, arresting Torguson. He had a warrant for his arrest and was on parole in both California and Oregon. He’s been sentenced to 4 years in state prison.
