The Shasta County Bomb Squad was called to Tehama County to take care of a pipe bomb Tuesday. A little after 10 O’clock Tuesday morning a man noticed a suspicious looking item on the Jelly’s Ferry Road onramp to Southbound Interstate Five. He called 9-1-1 and Red Bluff Area CHP Officers responded. They also thought it looked suspicious and they shut down the interchange. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office was called because Tehama County doesn’t have a bomb squad. The explosives experts confirmed that it looked like a pipe bomb and they blew up the item at the scene. No homes were affected, nor was traffic on Interstate Five affected. Anyone with information about the bomb is asked to call the Red Bluff Area CHP Office.
